Roman Booteen
Russian artist Roman Booteen (featured previously here and here) recently unveiled his latest ‘ Hobo nickel ‘ featuring a beating heart. Using a US Silver dollar (Morgan), Booteen made a beating heart with a clever turning mechanism shown below. The coin is one-of-a-kind and Booteen has no plans to make any more of this design in the future. Meet the Master. Based in Russia, rising star Roman Booteen (spelled Butin) maintains a mysterious level of anonymity, while producing hobo nickel creations which regularly shock the coin collecting community with both their subject matter and complexity. The ancient art of the hobo nickel has been around since the 18th century, but Russian artist Roman Booteen keeps the craft alive with his extraordinary coin carving designs. From a gold bug with moving wings to a mechanical beating heart, Booteen is a modern master at turning old coins into extraordinary bas relief sculptures. Roman Booteen turns ordinary coins and lighters into one-of-a-kind handheld works of art. The detail is incredible!Permission granted by Roman Booteen.
Russian artist Roman Booteen (featured previously) continues to create some of the most interesting ‘Hobo nickels‘ we’ve ever seen.
In his latest artwork, Booteen engraves a US Silver/Morgan dollar and adds a secret door that is opened by removing the knight’s sword and inserting it into the top of the coin.
